Crack the code and win a brand new Ferrari 360 Challenge!

The challenge is over!

Meganet Corporation offered a new Ferrari 360 Challenge to the first person who can crack the code (get the encrypted file here). The challenge was to break into a file encrypted with our proprietary technology, Virtual Matrix Encryption.

Virtual Matrix Encryption, or VME, is the industry's only commercially available, unbreakable encryption engine.  Utilizing a combination of Virtual Matrices and a 1,048,576 bit symmetric key, VME is impervious to brute force attacks.

The term of the challenge started March 1, 2002 12:00pm and expired 5:00pm August 31, 2002 Pacific Standard Time.  During the term of the challenge, challengers were provided with a VME-encrypted file and were encouraged to attempt to decipher it. Meganet is providing an application to help crack the challenge. Should a challenger be successful in deciphering the VME-encrypted file, that challenger would have been awarded the  prize of Ferrari 360**. 

Meganet will administer and oversee the challenge.
The solution was to be e-mailed to Meganet. 

During the challenge, we have encountered many attacks on our web server. The solution is not on our web server neither it is anywhere on our corporate network.

In the description below we will walk you through the decipherment of the encrypted file with the correct passwords.
To recreate the decryption process correctly, you will need our shareware version.

The Solution: 
Assuming that your "My Documents" folder is on your C:\ drive,
1- Download the encrypted file and save as ferrari.vme in your "My Documents" folder. 
2- Download the configuration file and save as ferrari.cfg in your "My Documents" folder.
3- Download the secret file and save as ferrari.txt in your "My Documents" folder.
4- Open the VME shareware application (VME02X32.EXE), go to "Advanced" mode, and apply all passwords as per screen shot.
5- Click "Decrypt" and find a new file in your "My Documents" folder called: "challenge.gif" - That's the solution.
